Rise of the Runelords

Coming back to Sandpoint

Rova 20th
We came back to Sandpoint in the evening two days prior to the Swallowtail festival. The first thing we needed was a bath and a good night’s sleep.

We go to the temple and deliver the sacred flame to Father Zantus while telling him about our adventure. In return we get this magnificent bag, which apparantly can hold many things without getting heavy. So even though it is heavy in it self, it is really a nice bag.

Niko buys new equipment to replace the things that deteriorated in the dungeon due a little accident about moral.

We change inn tonight to the more popular inn called The Rusty Dragon which is owned by Ameiko. It is a very busy inn, especially before the big festival.

The night of the fall equinox and the day of the big Swallowtail festival. The whole town is one giant party.

We go around and try out some of the events such as dragon racing and gobling throwing. With more or less luck.

When it becomes evening we go to the big cermony to witness the release of the swallotails. And not least the opening of the new temple.

Xxx was ill, so the big speech was delivered by yyy instead. It was a great speech, but it is very odd that xxx declined the speech. However, Ameiko seemed like that would be his kind of thing.

In the middle of the speech goblins attack from all angles. While people flee we instead draw our weapons and start slicing through the goblins before they manage to burn down Sandpoint… again.

Aldern Foxglove seemed in trouble while he was ”getting the guards” at least that was his official explanation. It seemed more like he was fleeing the town. However, we save him and he promise us a reward if we come to the Rusty Dragon Inn later on.

With the help of the city guard we get the town back in control. They even manage to capture some of the goblins alive. The prisoners talks about some secret mission, but they either lie well or don’t know more about it.

At the Rusty Dragon, we got presents: a bouquet of flowers for Kara, a fine hammer for Dvalin. The sheriff invited Niko into the city watch, on account of his magnificent shooting skills. Niko bartered away a horsechopper that he looted found on the body of a vanquished goblin chieftain for a makeover of his chainmail and a new set of weapons. Aldern Foxglove presented us with 50 gp, along with an invitation for a wild boar hunt on the next day.
At Daviron’s house, we got a good look at his idea of urban house decoration, a comprehensive collection of goblin ears, which he claimed was far from complete.
Niko got caught in a romance plot, but managed to escape with all of his personal belongings intact.

We came to blows with a bunch of skeletons (again) in Father Ezakions crypt, the latter having died in the Great Fire five years ago. Both skeletons and their weapons dissolved into thin air after their defeat. We found a black robe with some taint of magic and traces of oval pieces (cloth? metal? human hide?). Ezakion’s mortal remains are missing.
We rode to the Tickwood with Foxglove where we didn’t waste time killing a boar that happened to loiter around in our path.
Back at the Rusty Dragon, we got even more presents, some more flowers for Kara and strongwine for Dvalin. Why does nobody ever give presents to the party rogue?
While we were basking in roasted boar and filling the gaps with a huge cake, in walked Ameiko’s father and started to shower us with insults and spittle. He also shouted at Ameiko in some foreign tongue or other, and muttered to himself between breaths. Ameiko gave him the heavy end of a soup ladle and sent him out. Foxglove seemed to lose every interest in Kara and went up to his room.

Frolicking in and around Sandpoint, part 2

Reva 25th
It’s a cold and stormy morning. As we’r eating breakfast, a boy runs up to us and tells us that Captain Hemlock would like to see us at the town hall. There we find Hemlock, The mayor Kendra Deverin and a dirty and tired looking elven woman, Shalelu Andosana. Shalelu works for Hemlock and has information regarding the recent goblin attacks. She tells us of the 5 goblin tribes that live near Sandpoint, their quirks and the handful of goblin heroes that are their champions. Discussing the recent attack, we learn that the goblins were from several of the tribes and it would take something to unite the goblins, as they are usually prone to infighting. She does not know what triggered the attack however, or what secret the goblins were talking about, but we are informed about a bugbear named Brutasmus that might have information.
Hemlock asked us to patrol around the city for the next couple of days, as he would go to Magnimar to request more guards. We agreed, somewhat reluctantly, as we feel going on the offensive is better than waiting to be attacked again.
We ended the day with a patrol around town.

Reva 26th
We had plans to go to Junk Beach today, but the weather stayed cold and rainy all day. Only thing of interest was a middleaged noble that insulted us.

Reva 27th
The weather is better today and we decide to patrol around the town before going to the beach. A crying woman runs up to us, but we are unable to understand her through her sobs. We follow her to her house – a goblin had hidden under the floor during the attack and had killed her husband. As we arrive, it is in the middle of eating her sons face. We captured it and brought it to Daviron who questioned it for us, however it gave us little insight. Afterwards we went to Junk Beach where a couple of giant crabs attacked. After they were defeated, we cut off their claws and brought them to Ameiko to cook for dinner.

Reva 28th
We wake up to find Amiko missing. In her room, there is a note from her brother, asking her to meet at midnight at the glassworks. We immediately head to the glassworks outside of town.
